Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer

Merchants Bank is currently seeking a Commercial Real Estate Loan Officer. He/she must have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, excellent business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit. He/she must possess analytical ability and have experience leading teams in proactive and innovative business solutions.
Expectations include the maintenance and growth of the current portfolio, making/monitoring credit decisions and contributing to significant growth of the bank by creating calling programs to current and prospective customers to promote new/additional business.
Other responsibilities include:
• Oversee the process of analyzing financial documents and related data to determine the creditworthiness of applicant and the merits of the specific loan request and interviewing loan applicants
• Handling loans of complex nature
• Monitoring and analyzing information on the creditworthiness of existing customers, monitoring repayment activities and taking necessary action to collect past due loans
• Establish and negotiate where necessary, the terms under which credit will be extended, including costs, repayment methods, collateral requirements and rate
• Participate in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities
Minimum requirements:
• Seven years of progressive, well-rounded banking and lending experience to include, commercial lending, commercial real estate lending, compliance, credit analysis and documentation are required
• Five years of proven management/leadership skills
• Bachelor Degree in business, finance, economics or accounting
• Strong business development skills
• The ability to be very hands on and possess an entrepreneurial attitude
